Excursions

LAND. The Parco dell’Uccellina, with its natural reserves and WWF oasis, its diversity ranging from the coast to the hinterlands, swamp areas and mountain peaks, is the ideal location for mountain bike, trekking lovers or horseback riders. Descending the hills and entering the woods and forests that lead to the sea, on well-marked routes or beating your own path, you'll discover isolated beaches, kissed by a magnificently colored sea.

SEA. In 1996, the year of its creation, the Tuscan Archipelago National Park has become the largest natural sea park in Europe; the islands in the Tuscan archipelago provide excitement and unforgettable landscapes just a stone's throw from home. Assisted by the local diving center's instructors, you can go on even the most difficult dives, but the sea shows offered by the Mediterranean ecosystem are also accessible to snorkeling fans.

CULTURE. The vestiges of Etruscan and Roman civilization, Saracen castles, watch towers and fortified cities; from 800 BC to our recent past, this land has experienced the development of peerless civilizations, preserving the remains in a region with captivating locations and unique atmospheres.

FOOD AND WINE. To fully appreciate the Maremma region, you must try its strong flavors, sweet and salty, fragrant and sharp. The Maremma cuisine has expertly kept a tradition which, preserving the wealth of past recipes, is now an art capable of providing a limitless variety of traditional dishes; discover them on the Wine Route in the hills of Maremma, Monteregio, Massa Marittima and Montecucco!

In Tuscany, the Hotel Roccamare is a hotel on the sea concealed in the green landscape of the Maremma region; the Roccamare pine forest occupies a segment of a beach of rare beauty and simplicity near Castiglione della Pescaia, between the sandy coast and rolling hills of the Pian di Rocca countryside.

A painting of melting blue horizons completed by the deep green of the pine forest and burnished color of the land as far as the eye can see around the hotel: between Punta Ala and Monte Argentario, an infinity of forever changing and new land and seascapes.

The artistic and historic environs are also unique; the one experienced every day in the nearby towns or the one kept in the numerous Medieval villages - like in Massa Marittima, Vetulonia, Pitigliano, Sovana and Scansano - or in the artistic cities of Florence, Siena, Lucca and Arezzo.
